We welcome, encourage, and value everyone’s voice and perspective in this process and hope you will participate in this active community conversation in the coming months.

To inform our work the President asked us to “conduct qualitative research with current students and alumni in order to understand their experiences with sexual misconduct.”  We obtained approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to do that research, which is underway.  We have a nationally respected sexual violence scholar and university trustee, Heather McCauley, co-chairing the TSM and she will be working with Professor Jennifer Thomas and alums Sydney Seifert and Jamie Moorby to conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty and alums who want to share their perspectives on campus culture, consent, and sexual misconduct. You have the opportunity to participate either online via a web-based survey or sign up for a personal interview.

We invite you to participate in our project in one of two ways. Please note that either option includes similar questions.

Due to the nature of the open-ended questions, we recommend you take this survey on a tablet or computer.

Option 1: complete an anonymous, online survey containing open-ended questions. Click here for alumni survey. Click here for student survey. Click here for faculty / staff survey.

OR

Option 2: sign up for a confidential, one-on-one interview by providing your name and email address. Students click here. Faculty/Staff/Alumni click here. An interview team member will reach out to find a time to speak via Zoom or in-person. The interview team is listed at the bottom of this email and we welcome you to specify whether you prefer to speak with a specific team member.

We thank you in advance for your support of our work as we see to, as put in our charge, “shape our community for current students and for the university’s future—affirming our academic mission and our best community habits.”

This project has been reviewed and approved by the St. Lawrence University Institutional Review Board (Project Number: 2019-25).
