Honoring Indigenous Ways of Being & Knowing: Five Akwesasne Mohawk Artists-in-Residence. Presented with funding from SLU’s Arts Collaborative.

Arihhonni (Honni) David will read passages from his recently released children’s books, share insights into their connections to Haudenosaunee culture, and answer questions about his creative processes and experiences as an artist. David will also sign copies of his books, prints, and illustrations. All of which will be available to purchase at a merch table for the event.

David is an author and illustrator from Akwesasne, Ontario. David’s vibrant visuals take the form of logos, comics, and children’s books. His storytelling and imagery seek to honor the heritage and culture of the Haudenosaunee people. In 2023, he released the acclaimed children’s book Who Will Win?, which celebrates Indigenous ways of knowing. In 2024, he published his second children’s book, The Good Game, which recounts the origin story of lacrosse.
