    The President's Office, Academic Affairs, and Student Life sent a message to the community on Monday, Oct. 25, providing  updates on test results, announcing the University's operating status has changed to Green (low risk), sharing information about local and regional public health conditions, and providing guidance on when proof of vaccination is required for public indoor events.     Haunting Herring-Cole: A Remote Learner's Love Letter to Campus 

    While studying remotely during the 2020-21 academic year, Hannah Rutkowski '22 found herself imagining what it would be like to reside in one of St. Lawrence's historic buildings as the notorious ghost of Herring-Cole Hall.

    English Professor’s New Book Reinterprets African American Novels

    Associate Professor of English Alvin J. Henry has published a new book reinterpreting African American novels and identifying a new model of Black queer selfhood. “Black Queer Flesh” was published by the University of Minnesota Press, which describes it as “an original and necessary contribution to Black literary studies, offering new ways to understand and appreciate the canonical texts and far more.”

    Faculty Focus - Oct. 25, 2021

    Faculty members put their knowledge into action so students and others are able to benefit from it. Recently, faculty published scholarly articles and book chapters, completed National Science Foundation-funded projects, presented at conferences, and provided insight into global affairs.

    Aimee Baker, Writers Series Guest: Recording Now Available

    The St. Lawrence University Writers Series welcomed poet Aimée Baker '04 via on Thursday, Sept. 16. Baker's debut poetry collection, Doe, dramatizes the untold stories of missing and unidentified women across the United States and was selected as the winner of the 2016 Akron Prize. The recording of the event is now available for viewing.

    The Alexander String Quartet

    - The Alexander String Quartet returns to St. Lawrence for a four-day residency that will include two virtual performances with the Laurentian Singers on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at noon, and on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. These performances are open to the public via livestream.

    Saints Teams Secure Liberty League Playoff Spots; Fall Sports Continue

    Saints Field Hockey defeated Union College 6-2 on Sunday, securing a spot in the Liberty League playoffs while Saints Volleyball swept Union College 3-0 on Saturday to qualify for the Liberty League Tournament for the second straight season. The wins continued with Women's Soccer defeating Skidmore College 2-1 on the road while Men’s Soccer defeated Skidmore College 3-2 at home on Saturday. On Friday, Women's Hockey swept RIT 3-0 at home while Volleyball beat Skidmore College 3-0 on the road. Throughout the weekend, several members of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams emerged victorious in their individual races during their respective season openers against Skidmore College. Last week, Esports beat Moravian University 2 - 0 and Concord University 3-0 while women’s soccer defeated SUNY Canton 6-0.

    Purple Week

    As part of this year's Purple Week, The Advocates and other student advocacy groups organized powerful events on campus to raise awareness and show support for domestic and sexual violence survivors. On Tuesday Oct. 19, students came together for a candlelight vigil on the Brush Family Quad after listening to survivors courageously speak as part of “Take Back the Night.”
