Wind Ensemble Concert: Songs of the Sea

- Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall
Concert

"The face of the sea is always changing. Crossed by colors, lights, and moving shadows, sparkling in the sun, mysterious in the twilight, its aspects, and its moods vary hour by hour." - Rachel Carson, American marine biologist, writer, and conservationist

For our ocean adventures, sail along with us as Wind Ensemble performs Maiden Voyage by Shirley Mier. Enjoy tranquil waters with The Sea at Night by Ayatey Shabazz and Carol Brittin Chambers' Beautiful River, based on "Shall We Gather at the River." Rollicking sea chanteys are featured in Ralph Vaughan Williams' classic work Sea Songs, and don your life jackets for the exciting Foaming Sea by Robert Buckley.

The Wind Ensemble's musical selections also include a klezmer piece, a theme from the video game Cuphead, and music from the film, The Incredibles.

The event is free, open to the public, and in-person, with livestreaming.
