What To Do: Positive Test Results

COVID-Positive Notification Policy: Students 

Students who test positive at the Health Center or via a University-administered test must:  

  1. Notify your professors. In your email, include the day your 5-day isolation period will end.

    • If you experience symptoms, consult with the Health Center for this date.

    • If you are asymptomatic, your isolation should be 5 full days after the day of your test.

  2. Notify close contacts (roommates, close friends, University personnel you met with). 

  3. After release from isolation, continue to wear a well-fitted mask when around others through days 6-10.

Students who test positive at a local pharmacy, off-campus testing site, or via a self-administered or at-home test must:

  1. Follow the CDC guidelines here

  2. Access the NYS Affirmation of Isolation Form and upload it to the Student Health Portal.

  3. Notify your professors. In your email, include the day your 5-day isolation period will end.

    • If you are experiencing symptoms, consult with the Health Center for this date.

    • If you are asymptomatic, your isolation should be 5 full days after the day of your test.

  4. Notify close contacts (roommates, close friends, University personnel you met with). 

  5. After release from isolation, continue to wear a well-fitted mask when around others through days 6-10.

Note: Faculty should expect delays in receiving messages from Elaine White regarding students who test positive. Faculty should encourage and remind students to notify their faculty directly as soon as they test positive.
