Returning Students
Important 2025-2026 FAFSA Update:
The 2025-2026 FAFSA is officially open. Students should complete the application as soon as possible and must have it submitted by April 1, 2025 to meet our priority filing deadline for packaging.
Should you have any questions, please contact our office.
Important Renewal Instructions for 2025-2026
Applying for financial aid is an annual process. There are many factors used in calculating eligibility for financial aid. For example, a student who does not qualify one year might become eligible during the next year. The opposite is also true. Changes in family financial circumstances might affect your eligibility for need-based student aid each year.
Before completing your 2025-2026 FAFSA, please be sure the student and all contributors have created their Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID, if they do not already have an ID. FSA IDs can be created here.
COMPLETE THE ONLINE 2025-2026 RENEWAL FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID):
Students apply on-line (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa). Continuing students should submit the FAFSA no later than April 1, 2025 for priority financial aid packaging. St. Lawrence's school code is 002829.
Late financial aid applicants risk losing eligibility for part or all of their financial aid resources. Should you feel that you have special circumstances that will not allow you to meet the financial aid application deadline, you must request an extension by April 1, 2025. Extension requests may be sent to finaid@stlawu.edu or by calling 800-355-0863.
It is important to submit accurate and complete student and parent information.
NEW YORK RESIDENTS
Families must continue to be residents of New York State (NYS) for consideration of the NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). The TAP application process begins by filing the NYS Payment Application through HESC or by filing the FAFSA and listing as least one NYS college or university. Students may complete their NYS Payment application online directly at https://www.tap.hesc.ny.gov/totw/.
- Note that NYS TAP award estimates provided on 2025-2026 award notifications will be based on the current year formula until the NYS budget is in-place.
- St. Lawrence University will not be responsible for making up any difference should one's actual TAP award be lower than the estimated amount.
VERMONT RESIDENTS
Do not forget to submit your application to directly VSAC (Vermont Student Assistance Corp.) for consideration for a Vermont state grant. It is your responsibility to contact VSAC (888-307-8722 or online) to be certain you comply with the application deadline.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
If you feel that you have any unusual circumstances not included in the FAFSA, please contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss further.
