Show description:

In October 1998, 21-year-old University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was severely beaten and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming. He would die from his injuries a few days later. The media called him a hate crime victim, claiming he was killed because he was gay. Moises Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie and conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of the town to produce The Laramie Project. The result is a breathtaking and deeply moving collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.
