Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration

Dear Laurentian community,

I am pleased to share that we have worked with the Registry to hire Karl F. Spiecker as interim vice president for finance and administration. He will be moving to Canton and beginning his duties on Wednesday, January 11.

I am confident that Karl will provide the steady leadership St. Lawrence needs during this transition. As you get to know Karl, you will find that he is a clear communicator and has an authentic and genuine style. He has significant experience leading a wide range of areas and responsibilities, including finance, budgets, information technology, and facilities. In addition, during the interview process, he demonstrated a strong understanding of the current institutional challenges St. Lawrence faces.

Karl most recently served as Interim Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. During this interim appointment, he was responsible for overseeing a variety of administrative operations of the University, including budget preparation and implementation, controller, student billing, accounts receivable, facilities services, leases and space planning, parking, police operations, enrollment management, financial aid, and the pre-collegiate program.

Previously, Karl served as Vice President for Finance at the College of Western Idaho and Vice President for Finance and Administration at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Karl graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Finance) from the University of Colorado and earned a Master of Public Policy and Master of Science (Natural Resource Policy) from the University of Michigan.

Karl has also made a difference by volunteering in his local communities. He has served as a youth sports coach, as an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts, as a member of the Rotary Club, and as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner.

Please join me in welcoming Karl Spiecker to the Laurentian community.

Sincerely,

Kate Morris
