Ronnie Olesker.

Originally from Israel, I spent a few years as a child in the Boston area and then returned to the United States as a graduate student at the Fletcher School, Tufts University where I received my doctorate in international relations.

In the past I served in the Israeli army where I learned the importance of policy analysis and critical thinking. Before graduate school in the States, I completed a law degree in Israel, with a specialization in international law but somehow found myself working as an assistant prosecutor at the Central District Attorney’s office in Tel Aviv, Israel.

After a short period as a lawyer, I was disillusioned with the system of criminal law and returned to school to pursue my true passion – international politics and security studies. My teaching areas of expertise bring all my personal and professional life experiences together: as a solider, an attorney, a human rights activist, and a student of international law and politics. I am truly passionate about what I teach and believe that theories must always be applied to “real world” circumstances, even in the classroom, or maybe especially in the classroom. I combine my professional experience with a sense of humor and active engagement with my students in both learning and research endeavors.

I am a die hard Red Sox and Patriots fan, I love to travel and am grateful that my line of work affords me the ability to learn more about the world around me in new and exciting ways.
