Peace Studies Program
Are you interested in exploring the potential for nonviolent methods of building social, political and economic justice? Theories developed by peace studies researchers have been tested and used by activists to help transform interpersonal relationships and international disputes. Did you know that studies have shown that nonviolence is actually more effective than wars at resolving conflicts and creating lasting peace?
Students taking part in our interdisciplinary peace studies minor examine the sometimes forgotten history of nonviolent social change, analyze its effect on conflict at all levels, and learn how to put such practices to use in their own lives. Some of our graduates enter graduate programs in peace and conflict studies or go on to work in mediation, diplomacy, or related fields.
