Lynn '68 and Terry Burns Birdsong '69

Lynn '68 and Terry Burns Birdsong '69 have demonstrated exemplary service to St. Lawrence, the Adirondack Region and their local communities. Lynn received his bachelor’s degree in economics before earning an MBA from Pace University. He had a successful career in leadership roles at Bankers Trust Company, Scudder, Stevens & Clark, and Zurich Scudder Investments, and currently serves as a director of the Hartford Funds and the Aberdeen Global Funds. Terry earned her bachelor’s degree in history and followed with a Master’s degree in education from Hofstra. Her career path included positions in education, banking, and as President/Partner of The George Birdsong Company until her retirement.

Lynn joined the board of trustees for The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY, in 2007. He served as board president and co-chair of a five-year, $20 million campaign and is currently on the advisory board. Terry serves on the board of The Upper Saranac Foundation and recently joined the board of The Wild Center. She has volunteered as a board member of the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, the Samaritan Counseling Center, the Rye YMCA, and the Adirondack Health Foundation, where she also served as president. Together, the Birdsongs have also demonstrated a commitment to children and youth in their communities.

As alumni, Lynn and Terry have served their alma mater as Admissions Associates, Reunion development chairs and committee members, career advisors, and members of the Major Gifts Committee during the University’s “Momentum” campaign.
