Professor Brezault presented at an international conference in Dakar in Nov 2023 on African literature and Ecology. Her paper was entitled: “Afrofuturism, performances and environmental dystopias: In search of a new ecopoetics of place.”
Associate Professor and Co-Chair World Languages, Cultures, and Media Department Eloise Brezault hosted two renowned Senegalese artists whose work has been nourished by political and social activism to keep democracy alive in Senegal. The artists spent two days on campus, visiting classes and speaking with students about the importance of art and activism in their work.
Robin Rhodes, director of ESOL and multilingual student academic support in World Languages, Cultures, & Media, gave a presentation at the Symposium on Second Language Writing, Oct. 26, in Tempe, Arizona. Her presentation was titled: Pedagogical Redesign in Higher Education ESOL: Racism, Antiracism, and Multilingual Identity.
As a recent recipient of the Francophone Mobility Chairs from uOttawa, Professor Brezault gave a keynote talk on October 12, 2023, at the University of Ottawa entitled: “Masquerade and Corporality among some African Performers: In Search of a New Ecopoetic Consciousness of Place.”
