Environmental Studies - Mathematics Combined Major

Math-Environmental Combined Major (B.S.)

The Environmental Studies-Mathematics Combined Major requires sixteen units. Seven units are in Environmental Studies, while nine units are in Mathematics and Statistics.  The course requirements are as follows.

Environmental Studies Combined Major Core (7 units)

  • ENVS 101 - Introduction to Environmental Studies (1 unit)
  • Policy/Pollution Courses (see list below)  (3 units)
  • ENVS 335 - Foundation of Environmental Thought (1 unit)
  • ENVS electives (2 units)
    • At least one of the electives must be in a dual-listed course in the Social Sciences or Humanities

Policy/Pollution Courses within Environmental Studies include ENVS 213, 231, 249, 261, 275, 285, 301, 302, 303, 321, and 363.

Mathematics and Statistics (8 units)

  • MATH 135  - Calculus I   (1 unit)
  • MATH 136 - Calculus II   (1 unit)
  • MATH 205  - Caluclus III  (1 unit)
  • MATH 113 - Introduction to Statistics  (1 unit)
  • MATH 213 - Applied Regression Analysis (1 unit)
  • MATH 230 - Differential Equations (1 unit)
  • MATH 3XX - Mathematical Modeling (1 unit)
    • This course is still under development. Until it is offered
      students may substitute any 300-level Math elective.
  • Any 300-level math elective (1 unit)
