Alaska

The Geology Department at St. Lawrence University has a tradition of providing a field-based geologic education to each of its students. With this in mind, the Geology 320 course – Regional Field Studies – visits south-central Alaska generally in alternate years. The trip focuses on the glacial geology and geomorphology of this very active region. The students prepare a guidebook as a precursor to the trip and initiate and lead field discussion when we are at the site of their guidebook topic. The trip is demanding, intellectually stimulating, and also a lot of fun!
