Learning Goals

In completing a European Studies minor, students will be able to:

• Engage in a critical examination of European society, addressing cultural, economic, and political issues of historical and contemporary interest

• Take a multidisciplinary approach to the study of Europe

• Challenge the idea of “Europe” as a natural and timeless entity

• Demonstrate a more authentic and unbiased understanding of foreign cultures through language study and/or experiences abroad

• Conduct research on an individual basis by completing an independent study project

• Enhance their critical thinking, research, and communication skills
