Alumni Association Logo

The Alumni Executive Council (AEC) promotes the mission of the University through programming that enhances St. Lawrence's reputation, strengthens connections between generations, and leverages the power of our alumni network to benefit every Laurentian.

Meetings

The Council meets in person three weekends each year. Fall and winter meetings are on campus in Canton. Our annual retreat in early June (the weekend immediately following reunion) is at Canaras, the University’s conference center on Upper Saranac Lake. There is an expectation that Council members attend and be active participants at all three regularly scheduled meetings. There are also conference calls that take place throughout the year to move Council business along between meetings.

Committees and Task Force

The Council's service to the University is primarily through committee structure. Council has six standing committees: Admissions, Advancement and Engagement, Communications and Marketing, Finance and Resources, Membership and Honors, and Student Services. Each Council member takes on meaningful work for the committee on which he or she serves. Council also has a number of ad hoc task forces that are created to meet more immediate and often short-term needs.

Volunteerism

The Council's membership is voluntary, but constitutes a serious and important obligation. Therefore, the Council should be viewed as taking a high priority in one's professional and personal activities.

Annual Giving

The Council may be asked to assist in the University's fund raising efforts; therefore, it is expected that members will set appropriate positive examples by financially supporting the University with an annual gift to the St. Lawrence Fund in a manner commensurate with their ability.
