Nafisa Awadh is a Swahili lecturer who grew up on the Kenyan coast. 

Nafisa holds an M.A. in Kiswahili and a B. Ed Arts (Kiswahili and Islamic studies)from Pwani University. 

Her graduate school thesis was on the Kiwaaṱa language, which is endangered and likely to be lost. In addition to her interest in languages, she has recently been involved in exploring the cultures of coastal communities. 

Nafisa's research interests include: Sociolinguistics,  Second Language Acquisition and Learning, African Anthropology, Swahili language teaching, Literature and Culture
