Tell us more about your off-campus study experience! Studying in Denmark was absolutely the best decision I made at St. Lawrence. The newness you will experience is euphoric and will transform you to your core. It forces you out of your comfort zone like no other experience and it will shift the way you view yourself and the world. I am someone who was very hesitant to study off-campus, but I knew it was essential to get out of the "SLU bubble" and experience a different culture and part of the world. After living in Denmark and studying in Copenhagen, I am now looking to move to a city after I graduate from SLU because I learned to love the richness of city life. From museums to restaurants to parks and cafes, I was never bored. Learning about the Danish healthcare system and seeing how socialized medicine can systematically impact a society made me further passionate about working in and improving the US healthcare system.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone studying off-campus or thinking about studying off-campus? Keep a journal! Studying off campus is inevitably going to be a transformative experience. Though it will be fun and exciting at times, you will experience moments of anxiety, stress, and homesickness. Writing down your emotions and thought patterns can help you make sense of this new and, at times, intense time. Also, it's fun to write down memories, stories, and experiences to look back on and share with others!
