Gunnison Memorial Chapel and Richardson Hall

First Day of Classes and Convocation

University-Wide Event

Convocation is a "calling together" of the academic community at the start of a new year. Its purpose is to mark by ritual a new beginning for our mission as a university and acknowledge the accomplishments of faculty and staff members who are part of St. Lawrence's academic community.

During Convocation, President Morris and Dean Schonberg introduce our new faculty and staff colleagues, recognize newly tenured and promoted faculty colleagues, and recognize faculty colleagues newly appointed to endowed professorships. The Keene, Maslow, Taylor, and Coakley awards will also be presented.

Convocation will begin at 4:30 pm in The Enchanted Forest by Herring-Cole. In case of rain, Convocation will occur in Gunnison Chapel and the Opening Reception will be held in Eben Holden.
