Vice President for Finance and Administration Announced

To:                       The St. Lawrence Community

From:                  William L. Fox, President

Date:                   May 14, 2018

Subject:              Vice President for Finance and Administration

I am delighted to announce that we will welcome Stephen Hietsch to the Laurentian community as our next Vice President for Finance and Administration. We look forward to July 2018, when he arrives on campus to begin his new responsibilities. Steve will be joined by his wife, Becky, who is a registered nurse and healthcare administrator. They have a daughter who teaches English in Madrid, Spain and a son who is studying chemical engineering at The Pennsylvania State University.

Steve comes to St. Lawrence from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he is Associate Vice President for Budget and Auxiliaries. A role that he has held since 2012. He has also served in various positions in local government, including as Manager for the Borough of Carlisle. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree Summa Cum Laude in history as well as a Master of Public Administration from The Pennsylvania State University. Steve also received a Master of Business Administration from Shippensburg University.

Steve brings a wealth of experience and skills to the St. Lawrence Community. He has experience and background in a liberal arts environment and a keen understanding of our financial model. He understands the complexity of long-range and annual budget planning and development, as well as auxiliary services. Steve’s collaborative nature and time in local government will serve our community well in the coming years.

Our search committee of trustees, faculty members, staff representatives, and students, chaired by Trustee Earl "Trip" Samson '80, worked diligently on this important search.  I would like to thank them for their service and contributions. I also recognize the critical support from the firm Storbeck Pimentel. Finally, please join me in thanking Jan Albano, who has served as Acting Chief Financial Officer since December. She has shown poise and leadership during the past six months as we have worked through our strategic budgeting process.
