Subject: Middle States Accreditation
After nearly two years of work, I recently received word from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education that they have formally reaffirmed our accreditation. In their letter to me, they also commended the institution for the quality of the self-study report and process that we used to create that document. It is a testament to the high-quality of the St. Lawrence experience that we provide for our students.
I am grateful for the work of our co-chairs Jessica Chapman and Bob Thacker, the steering committee, and members of the various working groups. They spent countless hours organizing and preparing our self-study and for a visit from the Middle States team this past spring.
The reaccreditation process gives us a chance to reflect on our mission and values as an institution. It also provides the opportunity to think critically about the areas that we can enhance and improve. The self-study provides an outstanding resource for a new strategic map effort this year by the tripartite Institutional Strategy and Assessment Committee (ISAC) which emailed the campus information earlier this week.
I look forward to working with the entire Laurentian community as we embark on a campus-wide effort to chart the course for St. Lawrence in the decade to come.
