Penny Vlagopoulos specializes in contemporary American literature and culture. Her areas of interest include multiethnic American literature, transnationalism and globalization, mobility studies, and the Beat Generation. She earned her Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University. Penny has published articles on ethnic American literatures and an introduction to the scroll version of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. Her current book project explores multiethnic literary representations of the underground in the Post-World War II period, and she is editing a collection of letters between Kerouac and his mother. She enjoys teaching a variety of modern and contemporary American literature courses.
