Paul Redfern

Paul Redfern was named Vice President for University Communications at St. Lawrence University in December 2017. He is a member of the senior staff, leads an award-winning communications team, as well as oversight for North Country Public Radio, Office Services (print and mailing services), and community relations. He is responsible for leading efforts to strategically shape and communicate the compelling story of the St. Lawrence community of students, faculty, administration, and alumni. In March of 2022, he added Institutional Strategy to his portfolio as well. He also served as Secretary of the University Corporation from June 2021 until October 2022. 

Previously he had served as Executive Director of Communications and Marketing at his alma mater Gettysburg College since June 2011. He is credited with transforming that office from a traditional public relations operation to a dynamic, innovative, and comprehensive integrated marketing program.

He was responsible for developing the strategic communications plan for the leadership phase, launch, and public phase of the Gettysburg Great Campaign. During his tenure, Gettysburg College more than doubled the visibility of the college in national and regional media and implemented an aggressive digital and social media program that increased organic reach by 300 percent during his final three years. During 2013 he collaborated with a team from the community and College that developed a marketing plan for the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War that led to more than 50 million impressions.

Previously he has served at Gettysburg as Director of Web Communications as well as in the admissions and athletics areas. He also served one term on the Upper Adams School District Board of Directors and as a member and President of the Canner Funds.

He is also a frequent contributor to Inside Higher Ed’s Call to Action blog and serves as President of the Board of Directors for the College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals (CUPRAP). He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Tuition Exchange and the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
