Laura Lavoie is the Assistant Director of Student Activities and Leadership. She has a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam and completed her graduate studies here at St. Lawrence earning dual master’s degrees in education and counseling. Prior to returning to SLU, Laura worked as a professional counselor before pursuing a career in higher education. At her previous university she worked in Residence Life and Diversity Initiatives, but has found that her true passion lies in working with student leaders and student groups.
Laura oversees the Student Center Info Desk Assistants and advises Greek Life, including Panhellenic Council, Greek Council, and Gamma Sigma Alpha (Greek Honorary Society). In addition, she works with student leadership including the Orientation Leaders, Junior Class Council, and Senior Class Council. She also coordinates several campus events and traditions including the First Year Cup Competition, Family Weekend, Winter Weekend, 100th Night, and Senior Week.
In her free time she enjoys spending time in the beautiful scenery of the North Country with her husband. She also loves to bake, read, and dance.
