Dr. Calvin (Fred) Exoo is a specialist in the politics of the mass media. His most recent book is entitled The Pen and the Sword: Press, War and Terror in the 21stCentury (2010, Sage Publishers). He is also the author of: Democracy Upside Down: Public Opinion and Cultural Hegemony in the United States and of The Politics of the Mass Media. In Spring, 2009, he was chosen “Outstanding Faculty Member” by the senior class. His commentary and articles have appeared in such publications as the New York Times, The Times (London), The Los Angeles Times, Polity, New Political Science, The Journal of Politics, and the Huffington Post. In his spare time, Fred has been active in local social movements. He is originally from Wisconsin, and remains a major cheesehead – Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers fan.
