Eve Walsh Stoddard is Charles A. Dana Professor of Global Studies at St. Lawrence University in Canton. Originally trained in British Eighteenth-century and Romantic literature and philosophy, she has developed research and teaching interests in gender and postcolonial theory, Caribbean and Irish studies, transnational and comparative race and ethnicity, and global tourism. She has directed off-campus programs in London, Trinidad and Tobago, and Ireland. Together with her colleague John Collins, she recently published a global studies textbook called Social and Cultural Foundations of Global Studies. Her other publications include the books Positioning Gender and Race in (Post)colonial Plantation Space; Connecting Ireland and the Caribbean and Global Multiculturalism: Comparative Studies in Race, Ethnicity, and Nation. Her interest in nature and the environment is both personal and professional, ranging from hiking and landscape painting to eco-criticism.
