Brian Staples taught accounting and was the Pre-Management Program Coordinator and MBA 4+1 programs advisor at St. Lawrence from 2001 until 2014. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Clarkson College, he spent two years in the United States Marine Corps and then in 1975 earned an M.S. in Accountancy from Clarkson. Also in 1975 he became a CPA and later a GCMA (Global Chartered Master Accountant).
After graduate school, Mr. Staples worked for Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMP) then taught accounting at Clarkson for eight years. Since leaving Clarkson he has been in private practice in Canton. On the Board of the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency since 1982, he has been Chairman since 1998. A favorite quote of his is “How do we make this work?” He enjoys family, golf, teaching, as well as wintering in Florida.
