Overview
Dr. Robert A. Blewett, Professor of Economics, received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Specializing in economic development and African economies, his current scholarly work examines minority middleman networks in less developed countries. His first year employed by St. Lawrence was actually spent lecturing at the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria under the auspices of a Fulbright grant. Dr. Blewett has also made faculty development and research trips to Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, India, Nepal, Hong Kong, and China. In addition to regularly teaching Economic Development (Economics 336) and African Economies (African Studies/Economics 228), he supervises student honors projects and mentors university fellows examining economic development issues. Dr. Blewett is also a member of the university’s African Studies Advisory Board and serves as faculty advisor to the campus chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF).
