My particular expertise is in sedimentology/stratigraphy. Skills include core description, outcrop logging, thin-section petrographic and cathodoluminescence (CL) analysis, high-resolution sequence and seismic stratigraphy of carbonate and mixed carbonate-evaporite systems, diagenesis, pore type analysis, log evaluation and correlation. I have extensive experience on Mesozoic Periadriatic platform carbonates contemporaneous with the supergiant oil fields of the Arabian Plate. I also have extensive experience on Lower Paleozoic mixed carbonate-evaporite plays of the Williston Basin, USA, and Upper Paleozoic Devonian carbonate gas reservoirs of Rhenohercynian Basin, Poland. Other research locations include Appalachian Basin, Mid-Continent USA, St. Lawrence lowlands, and Wyoming, as well as modern carbonate environments of the Caribbean Region. Recently, I have been envolved in evaluation of microfacies, depositional environments and diagenetic evolution on the reservoir quality of the Permian Dalan Formation, Zagros Basin, which forms one of the largest gas reservoirs in the world. I regularly conduct field and laboratory courses, primarily in the areas of carbonate sedimentology and sequence/seismic stratigraphy.
