Alison F. Del Rossi graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware. She graduated with a double major in Economics and English and was a member of the University's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She was inducted into the University of Delaware Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. She received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. Prior to coming to SLU in Fall 1999, Alison served a year as a Junior Staff Economist at the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, and she was an assistant professor at the University of Wyoming.
At St. Lawrence, Alison's teaching and research interests include labor economics, law and economics, public finance and government behavior, risky choices (such as smoking and drinking), and economics of gender. Alison served as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs from 2010-2017. The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs supervises many faculty support programs including faculty travel, large and small research grants, and adjunct and overload appointments. The Associate Dean supports faculty development opportunities and programs that promote innovative teaching practices and course design, improve student learning, and assist faculty in their professional, scholarly, and creative development at all stages in their careers.
Alison enjoys time spent with friends and family and many North Country outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing in the winter and rowing with the local Grateful Oars rowing club and biking in the summer and walking her two dogs year round.
