What is Sustainability?

Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations.

Why Go Green?

Our surroundings, both natural and built, are influenced and impacted by our actions. Going green doesn’t necessarily mean you need to change your entire lifestyle – even small changes can have big impacts. By working together, all those little changes can add up, and we can reduce our impact while preserving our environment. Going green, and understanding why it’s important, provides the opportunity to become both a leader and responsible citizen. As Laurentians, we have so many opportunities to explore what going green means to different people from different places with different persepctives. As a member of this community we're uniquely positioned to inspire others through our thoughts and actions.
