Sustainability Semester Student Writes for 'USA Today College'

For St. Lawrence University students looking for ways to act more sustainable on campus, they need to look no further than their classmate Emma Duffany '15.

Emma has written "Tips for Greener Campus Living." Her piece was featured recently in USA Today College.

Among her top recommendations: Get to know your new hometown, like finding the farmer's market and where to buy local products.

"Sustainable living is not a trend, it’s about adopting a certain mindset and lifestyle," she writes. "Stick to your values when you venture onto campus this fall, lead by example, get involved and work to make low-impact living a habit."

Emma, of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, took part in St. Lawrence University's Sustainability Semester in spring 2014. She also interned this summer for GardenShare, a Canton-based nonprofit seeking to end hunger and strengthen food security in northern New York State. Emma is majoring in French and anthropology.
