Student Wins National Poster Award at Geology Conference
Riley E. Whitney ’20 of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, a member of the earth sciences honor society Sigma Gamma Epsilon, won the annual “National Council Best Poster Award” at our national Geological Society of America Meeting held Sept. 22 to 25 in Phoenix.
Whitney's poster was on work she completed in Alaska with Associate Professor of Geology Alexander Stewart and alumnus Trent Hubbard ’94 of the Alaska Geological Survey, using birch trees to date a rockfall event in south-central Alaska.
Cory Couture ’20, Calum Perry ’20 and Oscar Wilkerson ’20 also presented research posters during the conference.
