St. Lawrence Launches New Website

CANTON – Notice anything different? St. Lawrence University has launched a newly redesigned website (, the result of more than a year of work to improve the site’s design, navigation and content management.

“We have de-cluttered the homepage, which now features dramatic, large images and focuses even more on our efforts to communicate to prospective students and better reflect the St. Lawrence experience,” said Mark Mende, director of web services at St. Lawrence.

“We have also streamlined the navigation throughout and implemented a responsive design for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.”

The University’s first major redesign of its website since 2007 included two major pieces: updating the outward design, or how the site looks and is organized, and developing a new content management system to more effectively manage and share content across departments.

The University will continue to work in the coming months to move a few remaining department sites into the new design and to further improve and fine-tune the entire website. The new content management system will allow for more frequent updates across the site, including future design enhancements.

The redesign was a collaboration between University Communications and Libraries and Information Technology and included a series of discussions, focus groups and testing with various campus constituencies, alumni and prospective students.

The Web Redesign Advisory Group, which included students, faculty and staff, helped guide the project through several key points, including selecting partner firms and the overall design concept. The University worked with IE Design + Communications on the visual design and with Trellon on the development of the site's structure and content management system.
