St. Lawrence Identified as a Best College in New York
The online college ranking site College Consensus named St. Lawrence University one of the Best Colleges in New York for 2018.
College Consensus combined the latest results from published college ranking systems with thousands of real student reviews to produce a unique consensus score for each school.
“Similar to what Rotten Tomatoes does for movies,” explained College Consensus founder Jeremy Alder, “College Consensus gathers the publisher rankings and student reviews from around the web and distills the results into simple, easy to understand scores so students can quickly and easily compare schools.”
The ranking site says New York has one of the nation’s best-educated populaces and a system of higher education that includes the Ivy League, nationally-renowned public universities, and some of the most prestigious private liberal arts colleges in the U.S.
“New York's liberal arts colleges are models of the form, in many cases literally,” said Managing Editor Carrie Sealey-Morris.
St. Lawrence came in at number 13 in the ranking of 25 colleges across New York State.
The site boasts that St. Lawrence “stays with the most important tradition of the liberal arts college – excellent faculty,” with nearly all of full-time faculty (98 percent) holding the highest degree in their field. St. Lawrence students also enjoy an 11:1 student/faculty ratio, ensuring that students will be able to encounter and work with faculty members directly, developing their research skills under a knowledgeable guide.
