'Money' Names SLU Among Top-50 Small Colleges
Money magazine recently listed St. Lawrence University among the Best Small Colleges in the country.
The publication recently separated out small colleges and universities of less than 5,000 students from larger institutions. As a result, St. Lawrence ranked number 42 in its listing of the top 50 Best Small Colleges, which also included institutions such as MIT and Cal-Tech as well as other liberal arts colleges.
Overall, St. Lawrence ranked 133 out of 727 colleges and universities Money’s Best Colleges in America, which was published in August. The ranking looked at quality of education measured by graduation rates and student-faculty ratios, affordability measured by student loan debt and net degree price, and outcomes of graduate earnings after college. Money utilized information provided by the U.S. Department of Education, Peterson’s and PayScale.com as well as its own calculations.
The combination of its high graduation rates, comparatively low student debt, and average early career earnings of more than $50,000 per year supported St. Lawrence’s favorable listing.
