Margaret “Maggie” Jensen ’20 and Assoc. Professor Susan Willson recently published the article “How Effective Is the Birdsbesafe® Cat Collar at Reducing Bird Kills by Domestic Cats?” in the Journal of Fish and Wildlife Management in May 2022. Maggie examined the use of the Birdsbesafe cat collar at reducing songbird mortality by cats with Dr. Willson in the summer before her senior year as a SLU Fellow, and analyzed the data and wrote up the manuscript with Dr. Willson as a Senior Year Experience (SYE) project. Maggie’s dedication to seeing the project to completion gave her an inside view of the world of academic publishing, and after multiple drafts and editorial comments, she saw the completion of the work to publication two years after her graduation, and is first author on the paper. Congratulations Maggie and Dr. Willson!
