History Professor's Essay on Military Families in W. Germany Published

Associate Professor and Margaret Vilas Chair of U.S. history Donna Alvah has written a chapter on the history of the U.S. military in Germany since 1945, which was recently published in an edited collection of essays presented by the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C.

Alvah's chapter is titled "American Military Families in West Germany: Social, Cultural, and Foreign Relations, 1946–65."  The collection, GIs in Germany: The Social, Economic, Cultural and Political History of the American Military Presence, was published by Cambridge University Press in September 2013.
