Gov't Prof. Syracuse Op-Ed Questions Liberal Double Standard
Alan Draper, the Michael W. Ranger '80 and Virginia R. Ranger P'17 Professor of Government, wrote an opinion article for Syracuse.com and the Post-Standard, which asks liberals to reflect upon why white, working-class voters prefer Trump's message over theirs.
His piece was a response to The New York Times decision to keep Sarah Jeong on its editorial board, after she tweeted a series of offensive comments about white people.
"Liberalism was at its height during the New Deal, when white workers and minorities banded together in a political coalition," Draper wrote. "If liberalism is to recover, there is no alternative but to recreate it."
