Geology Prof. Recieves Best Paper Award
Antun Husinec, professor of geology, was awarded the Springer Best Paper Award for his paper titled "Record of Early Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Events in Adriatic Platform, Croatia”.
The scientific committee of the first conference of the Arabian Journal of Geosciences (CAJG), which took place from Nov. 12 to 15 in Hammamet, Tunisia, based its decision on originality and newness of contribution, appropriate application of methodology, relevance to the journal’s readership, and effective communication of the central ideas of the work.
The paper, which focused on episodes of oceanic anoxia during Early Cretaceous (~134 to 100 Mya), shows that shallow-marine carbonate platforms provide important repositories of carbon cycling and sea-level changes.
Husinec also co-chaired two sessions during the conference, "Petroleum Engineering and Petroleum Geochemistry" and "Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, Paleontology, Geomorphology, Pedology."
