English Professor Presents at European Conference

CANTON — Assistant Professor of English Juraj Kittler presented a paper highlighting the historical parallels between the earliest modern newsgathering systems and digital era information networks during a workshop of European media historians in Lisbon, Portugal.

The paper was based on his recent sabbatical research in the Renaissance archives of Venice and Florence, Italy, and Seville, Spain.

The workshop took place from Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 2013, at the Lisbon Foundation for Communication Research. It was part of a series of bi-annual workshops organized by media historians and sponsored by the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA).

Kittler will jointly organize the next ECREA Communication History Workshop of European media historians with his European colleague, which will take place Venice, Italy.
