Brass Septet Septura Limited to Perform 'One Equal Music'
St. Lawrence University’s Department of Music will host the brass septet Septura Limited at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
Septura Limited brings together London's leading players Giovanni Gabrielo, Maddalena Casulana, Orlande de Lassus, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, and Clara Schumann to redefine brass chamber music through the uniquely expressive sound of the brass septet.
This distinctive style of music, historically composed by men, is placed alongside a composition reimagined by two female composers, Maddalena Casulana and Clara Schumann. By creating these new arrangements and classical configurations, Septura Limited aims to re-cast the brass ensemble as a serious artistic medium.
Parking for Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall will be in H-Lot, across from Griffiths Arts Center and next to Vilas Hall. Additional parking may be available in I Lot and T Lot, adjacent to the Arts Annex and Gaines College. Visit www.stlawu.edu/music/venues-and-parking-location-handicapped-access.
