Lizzy Lewis '11 earns Tri-Beta Awards

Neuroscience major Lizzy Lewis ’11 received two awards at the Tri-Beta NE Region District II Convention hosted by Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA on March 26, 2011. Lizzy presented her Honors Thesis work on the effects of 6-gingerol on an animal model of multiple sclerosis, earning second place in the Frank G. Brooks Award for Excellence in Student Research. She also earned the Tri-Beta Travel Gavel Award for traveling the furthest to participate in the convention. Lizzy’s work under the mentorship of Dr. Kari Heckman was partially funded by a Tri-Beta Research Grant awarded to her last fall.
