University Chorus: Saint Nicolas

11/15/15 2:00pm to 3:30pm

The University Chorus and orchestra, comprised of students and community members led by Barry Torres, orchestra prepared by Christian Hosmer, present Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas, text by Eric Crozier, featuring Steven Brennfleck.  Saint Nicolas was written in 1948 for the centennial celebration of Lancing College in Sussex, and was Britten’s first piece written for performance by amateur musicians. The text was based on the legendary life of Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, Lycia, telling an exaggerated version of the legends that have developed over the centuries around Nicholas’s story.

Free admission. Open to the pubic.
