Dr. Foteva published a book

Visiting Assistant Professor of German Studies, Dr.Ana Foteva, authored  the monograph: Do the Balkans Begin in Vienna? The Geopolitical and Imaginary Borders between the Balkans and Europe. Peter Lang: New York, 2014. 330 pp. The book elaborates the cultural and historical consequences of the intersection between the Habsburg and Ottoman empires through analysis of literary, historical, and media discourses on the region. Drawing on this historical background, the book reexamines the notion of a monolithic European identity and proposes a new perspective on the European identities that would take into account the Balkans’ cultural complexity.
