The department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics is co-sponsoring a talk with SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. Dr. Richard Stallman is considered the founder of the free and open source software movement. He founded the GNU Project and almost all open source software uses the GNU Public License (aka GPL). 

The department will organize rides to SUNY Potsdam for the talk.  Dr. Stallman will speak about the goals and philosophy of the Free Software Movement, and the status and history of the GNU operating system, which in combination with the Linux kernel is now used by tens of millions of users world-wide.
