Most materials housed in libraries are available for checkout (with an AVAILABLE designation in the libraries' catalog) at the Circulation Desks. Other materials, such as periodicals, reference materials, and special collections may not be checked out. These materials have a designation of IN LIBRARY USE ONLY in the catalog.

Where Are they?
If you need a book or video that's currently signed out to another borrower, please come to the ODY or LSL Circulation Desk and fill out a a recall/hold form. We'll contact the borrower and ask them to return the material you need. We also recommend requesting the book through ConnectNY as an alternative to recalling, as it can sometimes be acquired more quickly than those books requested through the recall/hold process.
If you are doing a large research project and need a place to safely store your books, please stop by the ODY Service Desk to reserve a study carrel for the semester. Space is limited, so seniors get first choice.
At the close of the semester, we will send a reminder email to return or renew your materials to the Service Desk and let us know if you will need your study carrel for the following as well.
These are not lockable compartments, so the carrels are not meant to store your laptop or other valuables.
The St. Lawrence University Libraries hires students for a variety of part-time positions throughout the Libraries. Student job hours are flexible. Available positions and applications are accessible below.

What is Open Access?
"Open Access (OA) literature is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions." - Peter Suber
"Funders invest in research in order to accelerate the pace of scientific discovery, encourage innovation, enrich education, and stimulate the economy – to improve the public good. They recognize that broad access to the results of research is an essential component of the research process itself. Research advances only through sharing of results, and the value of an investment in research is only maximized through wide use of its results." - SPARC
