Geology Databases

  • GeoRef, produced by the American Geological Institute, is a comprehensive geosciences database containing over 2.8 million bibliographic records to the geoscience literature of the world. Over 3,500 journals are reviewed for indexing in the GeoRef database as well as books, maps, government reports, conference papers, and theses and dissertations.

  • This database features over 70,000 records for ESS publications, including:

    • Publications of the Geological Survey of Canada and the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing
    • Canada Topographic Maps
    • External publications authored by ESS scientists and specialists

    GEOSCAN also provides links to publications available online or for free download, as well as other information regarding ESS programs, and ordering publications.

  • Contains indexing, citations and links to the full text of most reports, documents, books and series published by the USGS and USGS authors. The reports and thematic maps database currently contains more than 130,000 bibliographic citations, including USGS numbered series begun as early as 1880.

  • Science Citation Index Expanded is a multidisciplinary index to the journal literature of the sciences which is now available via the Web of Science platform. It fully indexes over 6,650 major journals across 150 scientific disciplines and includes all cited references captured from indexed articles.

  • Multidisciplinary information from high impact journals and conference proceedings.  Includes the Web of Science Core Collection (Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index) and Zoological Record.
