Katie Palmer Canoe Books Bibliography
During his tenure as Curator of Special Collections and University Archivist Mark McMurray assembled a new signature collection for the St. Lawrence University Libraries: books about canoes and canoeing.
Ranging back to the late nineteenth century and covering all aspects of the boats and the sport, the collection bespeaks the considerable cultural importance canoeing has to Northern New York.
In the summer of 2018, Katie Palmer (’19) won a St. Lawrence University Fellowship to write a descriptive bibliography of canoeing books acquired by Mr. McMurray in creating our collection. All of the titles in the bibliography are in the St. Lawrence University Rare Books collection, and available for inspection in the Frank and Anne Piskor Reading Room. Katie’s bibliography is currently shelved with our Rare Books and is also available for inspection in the Frank and Anne Piskor Reading Room.
