19th Century Collections

Nineteenth Century Collections Online is a major collection of primary source materials covering British history from 1790-1929. These documents are divided into eight digital archives—Asia and the West, British Politics and Society, British Theatre, Music and Literature: High and Popular Culture, and European Literature 1790-1840: the Corvey Collection, Europe and Africa: Commerce, Christianity, Civilization, and Conquest, Photography: the World Through the Lens, Science, Technology and Medicine: 1780-1925, and Women: Trans-national Narratives.

The materials within these archives are extremely diverse: illustrations, personal correspondence, government reports, books, newspapers, playbills, in a word it is a complete range of ephemera.  

Any research project touching on the nineteenth century in European Studies, history, literature, theater, government, modern languages, or art would find relevant material here. The archives can be search together or singularly. Documents can be downloaded or printed as pdf files.
